This 40-hour training course will provide the JTO the knowledge and skills required as they prepare for future supervisory positions. \n\n\n\nEmployees of Georgia’s Sheriff’s offices serving as jail officers\, demonstrating excellent knowledge of jail operations and exhibiting a desirable work ethic and commitment to excellence\, possessing very good interpersonal skills and a willingness to train newly appointed jail officers\, are excellent candidates as part of their respective facility’s Jail Training and Evaluation Program. \n\n\n\nUpon passing the test and meeting the employment requirements\, the student may apply for his JTO Certification through POST. \n\n\n\nPre-requiste: The student must be a P.O.S.T. certified jail officer with a minimum of three years jail officer experience\, with the past year serving with your current agency. \n\n\n\n\n\nHotel Accommodations must be sought by the student\, requesting the hotel’s government rate. If the student fails the test or the practical\, P.O.S.T\, rules dictate a retest is NOT optional nor will the student receive credit for the course. The course must be attended in its entirety again.\n\n\n\nDress is business casual; no t-shirts. Jeans are allowed if neat and in good repair. If you do not receive it in the next two weeks\, please let us know so that we can ensure that we have the correct address on file for you. \n\n\n\n\nThe letter/invoice will contain a membership credential card and a remit slip if you prefer to mail a check.\n\n\n\nIf you mail a check\, please write “2024 Chaplains Dues” in the memo line of the check.\n\n\n\nIf the sheriff’s office pays annual dues on behalf of the chaplain\, the chaplain should provide the invoice to the appropriate sheriff’s office for payment.\n\n\n\nOnce payment is received at our office\, a receipt will be mailed to the chaplain or to the sheriff’s office if paid by the sheriff.\n\n\n\nIf you are a new chaplain paying dues for the first time\, we need your home address in order to send you your credential card. The presentations included a tithe for $3\,318.88 to the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes and $225 to three of the five Youth Homes campuses for back to school supplies. \n\n\n\nFrom July 2022 – July 2023\, the Chaplains Division also paid $1250 in line of duty death benefits to the families of fallen officers. This 40-hour training course will provide the JTO the knowledge and skills required as they prepare for future supervisory positions. \n\n\n\nEmployees of Georgia’s Sheriff’s offices serving as jail officers\, demonstrating excellent knowledge of jail operations and exhibiting a desirable work ethic and commitment to excellence\, possessing very good interpersonal skills and a willingness to train newly appointed jail officers\, are excellent candidates as part of their respective facility’s Jail Training and Evaluation Program. \n\n\n\nUpon passing the test and meeting the employment requirements\, the student may apply for his JTO Certification through POST. \n\n\n\nPre-requiste: The student must be a P.O.S.T. certified jail officer with a minimum of three years jail officer experience\, with the past year serving with your current agency. \n\n\n\n\n\nHotel Accommodations must be sought by the student\, requesting the hotel’s government rate. Therefore\, a student is dismissed from the course if more than two hours of the course is missed.\n\n\n\nA written test scoring 80% or higher\, AND passing the final practical\, is required to pass this course. If the student fails the test or the practical\, P.O.S.T\, rules dictate a retest is NOT optional nor will the student receive credit for the course. The course must be attended in its entirety again.\n\n\n\nDress is business casual; no t-shirts. Jeans are allowed if neat and in good repair.
