The Office of Sheriff is mandated by law to register sex offenders. This complicated process requires specialized training to effectively enforce the sex offender registry statutes. Sheriff’s office personnel who are newly assigned to Sex Offender Registration and Enforcement, have not received any formal training, or feel they need a refresher on the basics, are strongly encouraged to attend. This 14-hour course will cover the sex offender laws and basic registration & enforcement procedures.
Space is limited; register early. Deadline to register: February 25, 2025

This training includes an interactive session for attendees to enter test record information into the SORT database. It is recommended that each student:
- Bring a laptop or tablet to the class and
- Obtain a user ID and password for the SORT program and SSL VPN prior to the training from the GCIC website at http://gcicweb.gbi.state.ga.us
- You must pre-register by completing this on-line registration form below.
- Registration Deadline: February 25, 2025.

*Note: The SOR Basic 101 training includes an interactive session for attendees to enter test record information into the SORT database. It is recommended that each student obtain a user id and password for the SORT program and SSL VPN prior to the training. Request forms for SORT and SSL VPN user id and passwords are available on the GCIC website at http://gcicweb.gbi.state.ga.us
- Dress: Business – casual dress is welcome, unless your agency requires you to wear your uniform; just remember you are representing your sheriff’s office. You may want to bring a jacket in case the classroom is chilly.
