Advanced Report Writing16The Advanced Report Writing course is currently under revision and will be available within the next several weeks. Once the course material is ready, it will be made available to all of the off-site locations.The course is still required for the Sr. Deputy Certification.
Basic Jail Officer Course45Provide the deputy the opportunity to understand basic issues concerning jails, their operations, and specific jail skills. All certified deputies must complete this course for Senior Deputy Certification (If the deputy previously completed the 80-hour Basic Jail Officer Course, it satisfies this requirement). Test Required.
Bonding Procedures2Provide the deputy with instruction concerning the various types of bonds and relationship of the courts to the bonding procedure.
Civil Process8Provide the deputy with a working knowledge of the types of civil process handled by the sheriff’s office, to include writs, summons, ejectment, procedures, and garnishment cases and other court orders such as extradition procedures and detainers.
Court Services16Familiarize the deputy with the procedures for protecting courtrooms, court officers, defendants, witnesses, jurors and visitors.
Crime Scene Management for 1st Responding Officers4Provide the deputy with the correct techniques to use when arriving at a crime scene.
Domestic Violence: The Officer’s Response4Familiarize the deputy with the current DV Laws as well as the appropriate officer response.
Ethics2Acquaint the deputy with the concept of ethics in law enforcement with the emphaisis on the consequences of unethical officer behavior and improper officer interaction with suspects and victims.

Mental Commitments and Transports4Familiarize the deputy with the transportation of the mentally ill and the unique problems associated with such transportation. This block will also address the laws applicable to commitment of the mentally ill.
Office of Sheriff3Acquaint the deputy with the Office of Sheriff and the responsibilities and obligations one assumes both to the sheriff and to the community upon employment.
Prisoner Transports2Acquaint the deputy with the procedures to be followed when transporting a prisoner outside the jail. Emphasis will be placed on the hazards and security issues associated with escorting and transporting prisoners.
Public Relations2Provide the deputy with the appropriate techniques in dealing with the media, the legal rights of the media, and how to negotiate certain tactics used by media personnel to gather information from law enforcement officers.
Search Procedures for Wanted/Missing Persons2Provide the deputy with a working knowledge of procedures commonly utilized to search for and locate wanted and/or missing persons.
Sex Offender Registry2Familarize the deputy with the basic knowledge of the sex offender laws and the responsibility of the Sheriff’s office as it relates to registering sex offenders.
