In addition to Module 1 and Module 2, each deputy must complete two hundred (200) hours of advanced elective courses to meet the 322-hour training requirement. These courses may not include: (1) required core courses, (2) refresher or in-service training, or (3) basic training required for any certification issued by POST. Courses such as Instructor Training, Firearms Instructor, core classes in the Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced Certifications, etc. may not be credited toward Module 3. The list below includes POST-approved courses that meet the elective requirement. The student will abide by Module 3 guidelines and utilize the Module 3 list of courses. The GSA will consider specialized or advanced classes not listed that are 24 hours in length. Exceptions: If you are completing the program under the initial Senior Deputy Certification, see the FAQ.
These courses must be an advanced or specialized course. No courses with a course code beginning with the letter “I” will be accepted. Courses for Module III must total 200 hours.
